Here at Central Monmouth Animal Hospital, we are proud to offer urology services for our patients.
Urology is the study of the urinary tract and reproductive systems.
The most common symptoms that we see are increased drinking and urinating, blood in the urine, urinary incontinence, and increased urination. Though this can be behavioral, most of the time when pets can’t control their urination it’s because they have a problem.
The most common diagnostic tool that we run is a urinalysis, and we can get results quickly from this test. There are also times when it is important to run blood work and cultures to determine if there is a bigger problem. We can also take X-rays and ultrasounds to get a closer look at the urinary tract.
The most common diagnosed problems include urinary tract infections, kidney and bladder stones, and a blockage of the urinary tract. We also see acute and chronic kidney failure and urinary incontinence.
Once we have diagnosed your pet, we have the medications and treatments to help your pet feel better quickly. We can hospitalize your pet if fluids are needed. There are times when we might start medications by injection to get relief to your pet more quickly.
